Description
FLACS is a complete but simple tool for the three-dimensional modeling of the explosion, dispersion and emission of toxic gases and flammable materials. FLACS is actually an industry standard for modeling the explosion and combustion of flammable materials using computational fluid dynamics, which aims to provide better physical safety for industrial environments. The program is widely used in the oil and gas industry and increasingly in the nuclear industry, which has great potential for explosions and the dispersal of dust and toxic substances.
With the help of CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) for modeling and combining it with 3D graphics capabilities, this software allows to accurately predict the consequences and damages, as well as the ability to predict and display the effects secondary to these consequences such as density and flooding. And. HAS. Better understanding and more accurate results will not only increase the level of safety, but will also provide designers with reliable and accurate design options, thereby both improving safety and effectively reducing end costs.
FLACS features:
- Ability to integrate the explosion and distribution of gases and toxins
- Display the consequences of accidents in a fully three-dimensional way
- Manual and efficient editing of geometric structures
- Two-phase modeling
- Search for gaseous compounds
- Modeling transient events (time dependent)
- Includes side effects and measurement of preventative operations
- Authentic and accurate results
- Different ways to display results (two-dimensional, three-dimensional, animated, textual output)
- Better understanding of phenomena
- Complete Software Guide

The technical requirements
Since May 27, 2016, FLACS v10.5r1 is available. It is delivered for Microsoft Windows and for Linux. FLACS v10.5r1 has been tested on the following platforms (64-bit):
MicrosoftWindows:
- Windows 7
- Windows 8.1
- Windows 10
Linux distros:
- openSUSE 13.1, 13.2, 42.1
- CentOS 5.x, 6.5, 7
- Ubuntu 12.04, 14.04, 16.04
- Fedora 21, 22, 23
- Debian 7, 8
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.x and 7.x should be FLACS v10.5r1 compatible since it is compatible with CentOS 5.x and 7.x, respectively.
It is quite possible that FLACS also works on other distributions or versions of Linux. Please contact flacs@gexcon.com if you encounter any problems installing or using FLACS on a specific distribution or version.
Hardware Requirements:
- CPU architecture: AMD64 / Intel 64 / x64 (64 bit) are supported. Intel IA64 (Itanium) is not supported.
- Internal memory: 2 GB or more recommended.
- Free hard disk capacity: 1 GB for software installation and typically 100 GB for simulation data.
- Graphics Card: A graphics card with NVIDIA chipset is recommended. Graphics cards using, for example, AMD or Intel chipsets may work, but support and testing is limited to NVIDIA.
Other requirements:
- For Flowvis 5, it is recommended to use the latest graphics driver version available for the target hardware. To use the 3D plot type in Flowvis 5, a graphics card/driver supporting OpenGL version 3.3 or higher is required. If insufficient OpenGL support is detected, Flowvis 5 will still work, but the 3D plot type may not work. Installing a recent graphics driver may resolve this issue. Check your local hardware website for relevant updates.
